As the offshore industry becomes increasingly aware of the scope for SPS capabilities, Intelligent Engineering is constantly being approached about new applications.

Applications currently under development with clients include:

• Increased puncture resistance on MODUs and columns caused by anchors fouling during raising, dropped objects (drill collars), drill floor impacts

• Reinstating and increasing the capacity of blast and fire walls

• Blast protections for FPSOs – SPS Overlay is significantly more resistant to blast and projectile attack that stiffened steel. It absorbs blast energy, blocks shrapnel and prevents rupture and tearing

• Structural fire protection – building on the inherent fire protection offered by SPS, applications for structural fire protection to areas such as the riser bay on FPSOs are being considered
