SPS Overlay Process

Intelligent Engineering will work alongside owners to prepare a tender specification and obtain steelwork quotations from the yard of choice. The repair is undertaken by the yard according to a specification agreed with Class, and vessel owner under the supervision of IE or one of our licensees.

The SPS Overlay process includes:
· Surface preparation: original surface is usually grit blasted
· Perimeter bars are welded/adhered to existing deck (typically above transverse floor/frame and a longitudinal girder/stiffener) to define cavities
· New top plates are welded to perimeter bars and deck fittings as required
· QA check of cavities to ensure air-tight
· Elastomer core injected
· Final finishing including closing injection holes etc
