Superstructures
Steel superstructures are highly stiffened; have complex connection details and are costly to construct. they also require multiple coatings, the application of which is labour intensive and expensive.
The use of SPS plates significantly simplifies superstructures and speeds assembly through the elimination the need of stiffeners and associated connection. The built-in fire protection, vibration damping and flatness of SPS plates eliminate the need for the majority of coatings including, for instance, rock-wood and screed. Inspection becomes easier and through-life maintenance is reduced. As well as saving significant erection and operating costs, SPS structures also increase internal volume.
