Lightweight Cores

Typically SPS offers a 5-10% weight reduction on conventional steel structures with a 20% saving on fastship hulls, 50% for decks on bridges and up to 73% for stadium risers. Low-density cores can be used to further reduce the weight and costs associated with certain SPS applications.

SPS Composite Core has been developed for lightweight applications, such as the passenger decks of cruise ships and flooring systems for buildings. It uses low-density inserts to reduce weight. SPS Bubble Core uses large hollow spheres, which facilitate mass production. These innovations have the potential to extend the benefits of SPS technology across a broader set of applications.
