SPS Terraces meet all the performance requirements of a modern stadium hosting sports and entertainment events including rock concerts.

structural
The design and behaviour of SPS Terraces is well understood, readily predicted by numerical analyses and verified by full scale crowd tests on a representative range of structural configurations that would be required for any stadium.

SPS Terrace design is governed by dynamic performance, hence the resulting terrace units have significant strength beyond the design requirements and deflections under the full static load that are generally less than L/1000 which are well within the allowable limit of L/360.

Understanding human structure interaction and being able to accurately predict the accelerations associated with different crowd events allows the designer to optimize the structure with confidence. SPS Terraces with a high natural frequency and high critical damping ratio prevent resonance build-up and provide a predictable dynamic response that is within specified limits.

The elastomer core of the SPS tread dampens structure-borne noise directly at the source which makes walking on SPS Terraces feel and sound similar to walking on concrete terraces.

The acoustic insulation provided by SPS treads, as determined from measurements is a minimum 35 dB. Further acoustic insulation would be inherently provided by any structural fire protection applied to the rear face of SPS Terraces. The acoustic reflection of SPS Terraces is similar to concrete terraces.

SPS Terraces are coated with an industry standard non-slip layer consisting of a highly durable grit held in place by an epoxy or polyurethane binder. These coatings have demonstrated excellent durability and significant slip-resistance over standard concrete, especially in wet conditions.

SPS Terraces are designed to meet the specified level of fire resistance for a particular project by factory-applying industry standard structural fire protection to the underside of the terraces as required. Any specified rating of up to 120:120:120 minutes of resistance for structural stability, integrity and insulation can be achieved.

through-life
SPS Terraces have factory applied corrosion protection finishes that allow an almost infinite colour choice. As long as these coatings and finishes are correctly maintained, steel structures have been shown to last many times longer than the typical life expectancy of a stadium.
